Dakine relaunches the fishing equipment category: ‘Dakine Fish’

Dakine Fish is back after decades of dormancy.

The new range of high-performance fishing gear includes fish bags, tackle storage, gloves and clothing for both freshwater and saltwater anglers.

Well known to surfers, skiers, snowboarders and those looking for cool island fashion, Dakine has made a name for itself by delivering fashionable looks that perform.

JThe company’s Hawaiian origins and island feel can be found in its Dakine Fish line.

Offering products that we don’t typically see from many large fishing companies, Dakine has focused on gear that meets the needs of island anglers.

The introduction of freestanding and flat fish bags, ranging from 2 feet to 6 feet, is particularly intended for fishing on foot. If the goal is to get big fish on your table, these bags make getting the catch home a lot easier.

We see a lot of backpacks in the fly fishing world, and the new Ulua Fish Pack 60L ($330) brings the maneuverability of an ocean fishing pack. It has multiple attachment points for gear and gear, utility pockets, a waterproof liner, and a drain plug to let out all the good juices after fishing.

This bag combines a rucksack, rucksack and soft cooler in one functional piece. I can also see it’s a decent beer caddy for days when bringing home fish isn’t the point.

The Fish Open Finger Glove ($34) is one of the items that I see being universal between salt and freshwater anglers. Constantly having wet hands leads to painful cracks. The gloves offer a little protection for the fingers that are put to the test.

Personally, fly fishing with open finger gloves has saved my bacon more than once. They allow you to stay out longer without having to heal the cracks. They also provide sun protection, which is often so overlooked on the hands.

Relaunch thoughts

It’s great to see a brand stick to what it knows, and Dakine understands the island market.

This initial relaunch only offers a handful of items, but I’m excited to see where they take that and how they branch out. I’m sure shore anglers are eager to see new options for their saltwater adventures.
