Fishing equipment available for check-out at the St. Louis County Library
July 6, 2021
The St. Louis County Library will be offering fishing gear for departure starting July 7. Customers can choose between a fishing rod or a kit that includes a rod and tackle box, complete with hooks, floats, weights and a basic fishing guide. All fishing equipment can be checked for 14 days. Fishing equipment is provided through a partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Fishing is available in many areas in and around St. Louis County. One of the best ways to find public fishing spots is by using the MO Fishing app, which is available free for Android and Apple devices.
The state of Missouri requires a fishing license for most people over the age of 15. Permits are available for purchase at local retailers and online at huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/fishing/permits.
The Missouri Department of Conservation has free courses and other educational information at mdc.mo.gov/fishing/get-started-fishing. The St. Louis County Library also has many fishing books and magazines that can be viewed.
SLCL offers a variety of payout items in addition to books, music, and movies. Customers can use their library card to explore portable projectors, musical instruments, telescopes, Chromebooks and Hotspot kits, video games, puzzles, board games, Read & Play kits, and more.
